Rom-com queen Kate Hudson knows the path to true love may be long and winding, and sometimes you might even veer off course. The actor, who shares a son with her ex-husband Chris Robinson and another with her ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, opened up about her relationship journey and her big plans for the future in a recent interview.
“As hard as the decisions were in my life, and the depth in which I felt like I had failed relationships and family, with my partners throughout those years—whether it be Chris or Matt—I knew it was the right thing to not be in those relationships,” Hudson told Bruce Bozzi on his Table for Two podcast. “It’s a choice; you either stay in them, wondering what your life would have been like if you would have left them or choose to leave.”
Seemingly without regrets, though she admitted to feelings of failure, Hudson continued, “I’m so close with my ex Matt, Bing’s dad. Like, I love him so much, and [we’re] exactly where we were supposed to be, you know? I think he feels the same way about me.”
Through all the ups and downs of her relationships, however, Hudson said that she and her kids are happy: “I don’t feel the failure.”
She’s now in wedding-planning mode with current fiancé Danny Fujikawa, with whom she shares a daughter, Rani. “I go back and forth between a small wedding and a large wedding,” she said. “My first wedding was so small, so there’s a part of me that wants the big bash!”
Noting that it will definitely be in a far-flung locale, Hudson is also flirting with the idea of “a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony,” which would be “really beautiful and quite emotional for Danny seeing that his dad is gone.” Hear that, friends of Kate Hudson? Dig out your passports; you may be headed to Japan. And you’re welcome; I just looked it up—you don’t need a visa anymore.
