Kristin Chenoweth is singing high praises for the hair extensions that saved her life after an injury that could have been a lot, lot worse. The actor opened up on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen about a harrowing chain of events on the set of The Good Wife that left her with serious injuries.
The CBS show aired in 2009 and featured Chenoweth as a recurring character, reporter Peggy Byrne. Though a minor character, she was still well loved by fans who were saddened after she shared in 2012, via People, “It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife at this time. [I’m] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern.”
And on Watch What Happens Live this week, Kristin Chenoweth shared what really happened and just how serious her injuries were. “I heard, like, a flagpole sound,” she says. “I literally heard, ‘We’re losing the light.’ I heard ‘Action.’ And I woke up at Bellevue [Hospital]. It hit me in the face and it threw me into a curb. Seven-inch skull fracture, hairline cracked, and teeth and ribs.” The shocked look on Andy Cohen’s face says it all.

Chenoweth also shared how her hair extensions actually protected her skull and saved her life during the incident, telling Cohen, “My doctor said, ‘What are these metal things?’ And I said, ‘They’re hair extensions.’ And he said, ‘They saved your life.’”
It turns out the positioning of the hair extensions held the fracture in her hairline in place until the doctor was able to treat the injury. Chenoweth smiled brightly and added that it was the best advertisement for hair extensions there ever was: “So anybody who wants to get hair extensions should—for your health!”
