Matthew Lawrence is a good boyfriend. We know this not because of any gushy Instagram posts about his girlfriend, Chilli from TLC, or fancy gifts. No, the mark of a true keeper is that he picked her up at the airport.

I’m not even kidding. It’s a thing. In When Harry Met Sally, Harry muses, “You take someone to the airport, it’s clearly the beginning of the relationship. That’s why I have never taken anyone to the airport at the beginning of a relationship…because eventually things move on and you don’t take someone to the airport and I never wanted anyone to say to me, ‘How come you never take me to the airport any more?’” This is before he and Sally are in love, of course. Avoidant men play these sorts of games. Committed men pick you up at the airport. Lukas Gage knows what I’m talking about.

Obviously, Chilli agrees, because photographers who caught their LAX reunion also snapped shots of them embracing and, well, making out in Lawrence’s car. I don’t even care if this was staged—I love it. See the pics here, and please note that Chilli, like all of us, can’t get on a plane without overpaying for something at Hudson News.

The pair have been linked since last August, became official around Thanksgiving, and went public around New Year’s, when they posted a silly video of themselves lip-synching A-ha’s “Take on Me” using the music video’s iconic “sketch” filter. Joint post! That’s basically signing a lease together nowadays.

If things keep going in that direction, will we see them on our list of notable celebrity engagements of 2023?

Keep up the good boyfriend work, Matthew Lawrence. And whatever you do, do not go chasing waterfalls. You simply must stick to the rivers and lakes that you’re used to. And also the airports that you’re used to.
