The Dunkirk actor is known for his style and the imaginative choices he makes with his fashion, which is reflected in “As It Was.” While the singer is usually dressed in Gucci, stylist Harry Lambert opted for a custom red sequined jumpsuit from Arturo Obegero for Styles and a blue one for the accompanying dancer to prance around in. The designer shared on Instagram the details behind the look and wrote, “They are both wearing our signature Gades high-waisted trousers and Querelle top, crafted in dead-stock sequins and jersey.” A resourceful king!

During the dance scenes, you can see the two in their sequined jumpsuits with matching nail polish, while not confirmed, it’s most likely shades from the multihyphenated talent’s lacquer brand, Pleasing.

In the first scene, the former One Direction member is seen in his red jumpsuit with an equally shaded coat from designer Bianca Saunders. The red coat is its Yasso design from the fall 2022 collection. Thankfully, Harry Styles stans are dedicated, so the Instagram account Harry Styles Fashion Archive already has a full breakdown of the singer’s looks, down to his red underpants.

The song itself is a natural progression of the sound that the “Watermelon Sugar” singer has been working toward. The upbeat pop sound is reminiscent of an ’80s track, and the haunting lyrics make you stop and say, “Wait, this is kind of sad”—something the “Sign of the Times” singer is very good at.

With connections to his personal life, the song features a vocal clip of his goddaughter Ruby Winston, the daughter of British producer Ben Winston. Additionally, some lyrics may refer to his relationship with Olivia Wilde; the ending verse discusses a significant other from America: “Leave America, two kids follow her. I don’t wanna talk about who’s doin’ it first” are most likely about Wilde. The Booksmart director splits time between the U.S. and London with her two children, Otis and Daisy Josephine Sudeikis, whom she shares with her former partner, Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis.

One thing we know for sure, we’re ready for the new Harry and all that this album will bring.

The 13-song album is set to release on May 20.
