It’s about damn time to disprove another unfounded celebrity rumor. No, Adele did not walk out of the 2023 Grammy Awards after Harry Styles won album of the year.

February 5 was a big night for Styles. While the 2023 Grammy Awards celebrated a diverse mix of nominees and musical performances, the “As It Was” singer brought home two Grammys, including the evening’s most coveted award. While this was obviously an exciting moment for the singer and his fans, the victory did come as a shock to those who predicted Beyoncé had AOTY in the bag for Renaissance. As TikTok and Twitter users shared videos of some furious responses from inside the arena, one clip appeared to show Adele leaving the building in solidarity with Queen Bey (though she was also nominated for her album 30).

However, the rumor was quickly put to rest when Lizzo shared a video on February 6 of the moment Harry won, including a shot of Adele cheering him on before realizing she was being recorded. The energy in the room was contagious, and the TikTok video continued to capture Lizzo cheering alongside bestie Adele, who can be heard in the background offscreen.

As a dedicated fan of Beyoncé, Adele once championed the “Cuff It” singer by dedicating her own 2017 AOTY Grammy to her fave: “I can’t possibly accept this award. I’m very humble and grateful and gracious, but the artist of my life is Beyoncé; for me, the Lemonade album was just so monumental, Beyoncé.”

While she remains a loyal fan of Queen Bey, Adele was just as excited for Harry Styles as any other stan. At one point, Lizzo and Adele sang along to “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” as Styles took to the stage. The speech he delivered was definitely controversial, but he still received an enthusiastic round of applause (even his ex Taylor Swift gave him a standing ovation). And despite the album of the year loss, Beyoncé still walked away from the Grammy Awards with the title of the most decorated Grammy winner in history. Case closed!
